LOVE

- alt eseu in engleza -

“Say what you will, ‘tis better to be left than never to have been loved” (William Congreve)

Love… what is love? Since man first appeared on the face of the earth, love was there, sticked to him. And nowadays, when everybody seems so cold and senseless, love finds a way to mess with our hearts and minds, even if we don’t want it. So we would like to control love, to stop it from hurting us or from making us feel, uh, you know… feel like being in love.
Is love when you miss someone, is it when that someone is with you and your heart beats like crazy? Is love a feeling or is it a rational thing that we can control? Is it in our powers to decide whom to love? And how does it feel to love and to be loved?
First of all, love is a choice you make, is your responsibility. But, in the same time, love is acting on its own, being more than a rational feeling. Actually, love is such a complex thing, that you can’t say exactly what it is. All that is certain about love is that every single person that has ever lived or still lives today needs to love and to be loved. And, I guess, not only humans need love, but also the animals (and even the plants, as the researchers noticed). They seem to react to feelings such as love, hate, anger, and they can reply to those feelings.
Love has to be experienced, not explained. If you try to understand love, before living it, you would be kind of like Newton. He only discovered gravity when the apple fell on his head, not when he was living all day among numbers and physics theories. But, you might get hurt by love, because that apple might be a bit heavier in your particular case. So love is also about courage. The guts to experience something new, something that might hurt, but you could also take off for the ninth heaven.
People say love is blind. Well, that’s not love, dude. Love is rational. You have to think to the next step you should make when you love someone, to see the benefits and the downside of your decisions and actions.
And there’s another problem. People refer to love as like between man and woman. But you see, that’s only the cherry on the top of the “love cake”. You are meant to love your parents, your friends, the people you know, your enemies, yourself (this one is the trickiest of all), God. Loving all these persons will make you satisfied, and loving a girl (in my case…) or a boy, well, that’s like wow!
But, the biggest wow you get is from God, because even if you don’t love him, he will always love you. You know people can easily let you down and instead of that wow you are looking for, all you get is an ouch! So, as I said, you have the cherry, but the cherry without a cake is like a fish without a bike. And the best part of the cake is made out of God’s love for you and your love for him.
Love… it make you bring together all the various directions of your life and unites them in big creamy delicious cake with a nice shiny red cherry on top of it. Dare to taste it and you will never get enough of it.

Secretul vietii

1 Decembrie

Ziua Nationala a Romaniei!

Lacrimand

Ce simt?
O lacrimă se scurge
Rece, pe obraz.
Şi ce e plânsul? –
Slăbiciune.
Aşa credeam şi eu
Pân’ azi.
În lacrima-mi am pus căldura
Unei triste amintiri,
M-am pus pe mine –
Cel de ieri,
Şi-am pus speranţele deşarte
Că ce n-a fost va fi,
Dar nu e.
Şi văd – în ea se oglindeşte
Făptura mea de mâine,
Speranţa,
Fapta
Ce-au fost scăldate-n ochi cu lacrimi
Şi strălucesc a ideal.
Ce dacă nu vor fi-mplinite?...
Vor fi spălate iar.
Izvorul nesecat – oglindă pentru suflet –
Va curăţa de pe obraz
Ce-a fost şi ieri, şi azi – ce n-o să fie
Mâine.

Introspectie in inalt

The younger generation knows best

Din ciclul de eseuri la limba engleza.

Since it exists, the younger generation has been a problem for the society. People always had problems with understanding and accepting the innovation of the new generation. Because of the development of the human kind, the younger generation always had to be one step forward. It always adapted easy to new ideas, techniques, and conditions. Today the young are better educated, have more money, enjoy freedom and are less dependent on their parents. This is possible because of the amount of information available today and the easiness of accessing it. Parents play a smaller role in the future of the youth, being considered outdated. It is hard for the youth now to accept the ideas of the older generation, they rather find out themselves. Because of the accelerated evolution of technology, the differences between the old and the young generations go deeper. Youth is always up to date with the latest discoveries and ideas. And it is easy for them to understand and use them, since they are at an age when it is very easy to learn new things.

But this easiness of understanding the new has to compete with the experience of the old generation. Having a lifetime experience gives the old generation the right to say they know best, but this depends what they refer to. Yes, they know better how to behave in different situations, they understand life better, and they do have ideas based on their own experience. But the young always question the values and assumptions of the old generation. With no experience to cover for them, they can’t always see what respecting a value means. The youth lives in a society created by the old and it would be a mistake trying to change it. Even if their thoughts are visionaries, the old are those who know the way things work. The new generation tries to create an environment suitable for their needs and pleasures. This determines them to reject conformity and take the lead of their life. They enjoy freedom and forget about responsibility until they hit their first problem. That is the moment they start thinking more and doing less. The gap between generations raises many questions and problems. The best way to solve them is not violence, but communication. It is always hard to talk to someone who doesn’t understand you, but it is there, in that dialogue, where you show your abilities. The old may seem to be unhappy, to search happiness in material possessions, but this happens only to those who, after passing through life, didn’t understand what life is all about in the end. Maybe some of them lost touch with the really important things, but do we, the new generation, have any clue about what those things are? Old people can be unhappy, but there are some of them who understand what life is, and they enjoy it. They find a reason to be happy in every simple thing. Can we do the same?

Nowadays the old has lots to learn from the young in what concerns new technology, new ideas and things meant to ease our life. In the modern world, it is vital to enjoy your free time, to relax and to forget about the stressing hours you have to spend at work. Because are values and principles are lower than at the past generation, enjoyment is no more sinful. At least this is the idea that everybody seems to agree with. But is it not only because everybody likes this idea of freedom? The excuse for the freedom the young generation claims is often found in the expression: “Live the moment”. The emphasis now is on the present, not on the past and not even on the future. This difference was made possible because of the freedom led to its extremis. The young mainly see the freedom to do anything they like, without understanding the responsibilities that come with this freedom. And the consequences are affecting both young and old.
